Cast Line Lead Operator - Trainee - 2nd Shift

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·         Provides and enables Safe work practice leadership for the Cast Team.

·         Organizes crew tasks and assignments, interfacing with Supervision on an as needed basis.

·         May perform all aspects of the specified intermediate through finished product testing for the purpose of determination of product quality and fitness for use. This includes compounded batches and finished cast film manufactured on the cast line. On an as needed basis depending upon crew composition and lab resources available.

·         Will provide go/no go quality decisions in real time for the shift production team. Decisions may involve team and/or supervisory participation.

·         Assures compliance with specified QC and Production data collection and recordkeeping.

·         Trains and assists machine specific operator tasks including appropriate documentation of competency evaluations.

·         Sets up and prepares materials for processing, including ability to follow work orders and job requirements.

·         Monitors and adjusts casting line during operation.

·         Reviews and accurately completes all process-related paperwork, and inputs production data into ERP system.

·         Demonstrates to and observes new employees on daily jobs, paperwork, and computer work.  Provides training as needed to other employees.

·         Performs basic machine maintenance and cleaning as required.

·         Operates one (1) or both ends of either casting or coating line.

·         Other related responsibilities as directed by supervisor

·         Performs any other activity as required by Management.

 

Education and/or Experience

·         High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

·         Desirable, 3-5 years related quality control or laboratory experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Other Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

·         Able to follow written and oral instructions.

·         Demonstrates a professional, fair and safe approach to tasks and responsibilities.

·         Ability to use test and measurement tools such as micrometer, tensile and elongation test equipment, adhesion force test equipment, scales and various other lab equipment.

·         Proficient math skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

·         Detail-oriented

·         Basic computer skills

·         Physical demands include: regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear and climb a ladder with great heights. The employee is frequently required to; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
