Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·      Perform physical tasks in connection with shipping goods and receiving of product, including lift truck operation.

·      Verification of the accuracy of incoming shipments by comparison of items and quantities unloaded against packing slips or related documents.  Create documents, correcting any errors found.

·      Check for damaged goods, ensure that goods are appropriately identified for routing to departments within the plant, and prepare and keep records of goods received.  Enter packing slips into computer and verify.

·      Ensure that shipments are properly packaged, crated, and identified with shipping information.

·      Coordinates with manufacturing departments to determine when orders will be completed and ready to ship.

·      Plans and schedules shipments of goods by coordinating with customers and the approved list of carriers, including courier services, truck lines, and air freight.

·      Completes all paperwork and shipping documents to prepare orders for shipment including: Printing Sales Orders, completing Bills of Lading, entering shipment information such as product number, quantity, location shipped from, name of carrier, and Bill of Lading number into inventory system, and printing packing slips.

·      Prints daily credit hold report and compares to the list distributed by the Accounting Department to determine if any orders have instructions to hold shipment placed on them.

·      Coordinates with Customer Service if there are discrepancies between the lists.

·      Labels products with shipping address labels and packing slips.

·      Coordinates communication and follow-up among shipping, customer service, scheduling, and Accounting Departments.

·      Organizes and prepares packets of materials for shipment.

·      Manages routine freight claims.

·      Performs safety/maintenance check of forklift prior to use for each shift.

·      Follow all forklift safety practices while operating lift.

·      At end of each day, creates daily late-order report indicating which orders did not ship on time and why.  Sends list to appropriate departments.

·      Maintains a neat, orderly and safe work area.

·      Monitors inventory of packaging supplies for the Shipping Department and notifies the Purchasing Coordinator when to reorder supplies.

·      Performs any other activity as required for by Management.


Education and/or Experience

·         High school diploma or general education degree (GED);

·         3-5-years manufacturing Shipping/Receiving experience

·         Prior forklift driving certification required and ability to recertify upon hire


Other Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

·         Proficient computer knowledge including Microsoft applications and ERP Systems

·         Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.

·         Physical demands include: regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear and climb a ladder with great heights. The employee is frequently required to; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
